Overcoming Anxiety Through Hypnotherapy
To other people, you look like you have it all together. Perhaps you have a lovely family, a great job and you are seen as a highly motivated person. What people don't see is that underneath all of your achievements is this daily struggle of anxiety. Some days are better than others, but on the bad days it can be so overwhelming. You may feel stressed to the max and struggle to find the right words to say. You feel like everyone is judging you. Maybe you have gotten to the point to where you have had a full blown panic attack. Perhaps this is increasing arguments with your significant other, you find yourself snippy with your children or you aren't hanging out with your friends like you used to. It can even affect your job in that you can't focus on what you are supposed to do, because the anxiety is so intense. You have a desire to be a loving spouse, a patient parent and a hard worker, but your actions are showing otherwise. Well-meaning friends and family tell you to "take a deep breath" or "calm down," but it doesn't seem to be helping and sometimes makes you feel worse and misunderstood. It can be a vicious cycle where you feel that anxiety coming on and try to talk yourself out of it, but end up feeling even worse. So how do you get out of this vicious cycle?

Q: Can I use my insurance for therapy?
A: I do not accept insurance and I would like for you to know the benefits of not going through your insurance provider when seeking mental health services. First of all, the issue of privacy. Insurance companies have ways of accessing your private information. By not involving your insurance, your information stays private between you and me. Secondly, insurance companies require that a mental health diagnosis be made. This mental health diagnosis will follow you and pop up as a pre-existing condition if you attempt to obtain medical or life insurance in the future. It will also show up in certain employment and military health screenings. By not going through your insurance, no diagnosis will need to be made. Lastly, insurance companies control how many therapy sessions you have. By not going through your insurance, you can have as many sessions as you want, as often as you prefer. As you can see, going through your insurance creates many barriers to your services, which is why I have decided to not have insurance involved in therapy.
Q: Would I be able to use my out-of-network benefits to get reimbursed?
A: It's possible. If you are interested in going through your insurance you would need to contact your insurance provider to inquire about your out-of-network benefits. If you do have out-of-network benefits then I will provide you with a superbill for you to file with your insurance and you would be reimbursed by your insurance company.
Q: How will I pay for services?
A: My policy is to maintain a card on file, which will be charged the morning of your session. When your first intake session is booked, you will give your card information. This information is kept secured.
Q: What can I expect from the free consultation?
A: You will receive a free 20 minute consultation via telehealth or telephone, your preference. During this 20 minute consultation, you will be asked some basic questions and you will have the opportunity to ask questions. If it appears that I can be of help to you, then we will schedule your assessment. Your assessment will last 60 minutes. During this appointment, I will ask you some questions to get a better understanding of who you are, what you are going through and what your goals are for therapy. Your following appointments will be regular 50 minute therapy sessions. The course of therapy is typically 6-12 sessions. A client portal makes it easy for you to make appointments, pay for services, send a secure message to me, and sign documents.
Q: How will hypnosis help me?
A: Hypnotherapy can effectively be used through telehealth or in person. I love utilizing hypnotherapy in therapy sessions. Hypnosis is a completely natural and normal experience that we all have each and every day. I like to guide my clients into a state of hypnosis where they can feel completely relaxed, but you actually don't have to be in a state of relaxation to be in hypnosis! If you are a person that has a hard time winding down, no need to worry. I can help guide you. Hypnotherapy has many benefits, but my main goal for you is to help you rewire old habitual thought patterns and replace them with positive or neutral ones. Hypnosis also puts you into a state where you have better clarity and understanding. I will not have mind control over you, I will not make you cluck like a chicken and you will be able to open your eyes at any time! In fact, you will talk and answer questions while you are in hypnosis! Most people feel completely energized when they come out of hypnosis, as though they have just woken up from a wonderful 8 hours of sleep! I personalize each and every hypnosis session, according to your goals and values.
